Dimraeth Demo: What It Had and Why It Closed

The demo is gone. It was taken down on 15 July 2026 and Mudtek has not committed to bringing it back. If you are looking for a way to try Dimraeth before 15 September, there isn’t one.

What it contained

A developer answered the length question directly:

The demo has roughly 2-3 hours of quest content + a handful of replayable events and a replayable dungeon, people are squeezed quite a few hours out of those too.

And co-op was not held back: “yes co-op is fully available in the demo.”

Concretely, the demo covered:

  • Two playable races (Human, Minotaur) and two classes (Brawler, Magician)
  • Level cap 20 — a player finished the final boss as a level 22 Human Brawler at deed level 6, so the cap moved during the demo’s life
  • Five mapped regions, from the Sanctum through Earlwood Village to the Corrupted Forest — see the map
  • Two named bosses: Monstrous Droop and the Corrupted Treant
  • Achievements, hunger and thirst, crafting at four stations, farming, base building and the relationship system
  • The deed system, a repeatable difficulty tier that is how completionists kept playing after the story ran out

Why it closed

Mudtek’s own explanation, in the July release-date announcement:

There has been a wide divergence between the features in the demo and what will actually be in Early Access that extends from even options before you load into your world. The demo being so out of sync with the content that we’re having led to the decision that on July 15th we’ll be taking it down.

They added that a re-released demo “would likely need to be rebuilt quite a bit”. Earlier, in a demo FAQ, the plan had been to keep it up until Early Access — so this was a change of mind, driven by the gap between builds.

How many people played it

Roughly 60,000 players between April and July, per Mudtek’s thank-you post. Wishlists went from 50,000 in April to 100,000 by 14 August 2026, which is the clearest signal that the demo did its job.

What has changed since

If you played the demo, the Early Access build on 15 September is not the same game:

  • Level cap 25, raised with each new act — up from the demo’s 20
  • Elf added as a third race, Shadow as a third class
  • Male and female options for every race (the demo was gender-locked)
  • Two new regions, a major boss per region, new dungeons and new elites
  • 9 pets
  • Skill tree overhaul, difficulty levels, improved character customisation
  • Roughly four times the demo’s content, per a June estimate

The full list is on the roadmap.

The demo’s own reputation

Worth reading honestly if you are deciding whether to buy on day one. Demo feedback split into two clear groups.

The positive side was specific: people who wanted to play a large muscular minotaur said so repeatedly, and a developer wrote they were “amazed at how many players have found us specifically because of that race option”. Splattercatgaming’s demo video passed 170,000 views and the channel came back for a second episode.

The critical side was also specific, and it was mostly about onboarding rather than the game underneath. One player ran an informal test with six people aged eight to seventy: one of six made it out of the initial area. Our getting started guide covers the three walls that account for most of those failures — none of which are difficulty, all of which are wording.
