Confirmed races
Human Playable
The most populous race in Mirkea, built around adaptability rather than a single standout stat.
Renowned for ingenuity and adaptability, humans thrive in diverse environments and contribute to the realm's cultural and technological advancement. Human was one of the two playable races in the April-July 2026 demo.

Minotaur Playable
Seven to ten feet tall, bull-headed, and the race most players named as their reason for trying the demo.
Towering, muscular beings with the head of a bull and curved horns that can grow several feet. The official description stresses that minotaurs are tacticians as well as fighters. A Mudtek developer wrote on Steam that they were 'amazed at how many players have found us specifically because of that race option'.

Elf Added at Early Access
Announced on 2 September 2026 as the new race shipping with the Early Access build.
Listed first in the Early Access content update under 'New Race: The elf!'. Eldorian, an elf NPC, already appears in the demo's Guild Hall, so the art and lore existed before the race became playable.

Named by developers, not confirmed
These six come from a single Steam forum reply by a Mudtek developer answering "Full list of races/classes?". Treat them as the pool the studio is drawing from, not a launch roster.
Dwarf
Listed under 'Conventional: Human, Elf and Dwarf options' in a developer reply on the Steam forum. No build, screenshot or trailer has shown a playable dwarf.
Centaur
Listed under 'Unconventional: Minotaur, Centaur, Golem, Fairy, Troll and Griffons'. In a separate reply about gear appearance the developer used the centaur as the example of how expensive a new body shape is: eight directions x eight races x two genders is 128 hand-animated body variants before item slots are counted.
Golem
No build appearance yet. Treat as a design direction, not a launch promise.
Fairy
The Mudtek spell-system devlog uses 'fairy magician' to explain attribute scaling: 'if you pick fairy magician you probably won't be getting spells that require a lot of physique'. That is a design example, not a confirmation that the race is playable at launch.

Troll
No build appearance yet.
Griffon
The nine names the developer gave exceed the advertised roster of 8, and the reply ends by deferring to after 1.0 - so at least one of the named races is a post-launch idea rather than a launch race.
Gender options
Races were gender-locked in the demo - one body per race. The 2 September 2026 update lists 'male/female options for every race' among the Early Access additions.
The developer answers on this moved twice in three months: in June a developer said only that "we are looking to expand our production to get genders in", and in July the studio posted a "Character Customisation: Gender Options (Early Access)" preview to Reddit. The September content list is the first place it appears as a shipped feature.
Race is an economic choice, not a cosmetic one
Mudtek's spell devlog is explicit about the mechanism: how you upgrade attributes "largely depends on the race and class that you pick, because those factors determine the scaling cost". Universal attribute spells are bought as spellbooks and gated behind attribute thresholds — so your race quietly decides which half of the spell pool stays affordable. Race spells also get their own animations, which is part of why adding a race is expensive enough that equipment appearance was cut. See classes for the other half of the pairing.
FAQ
How many races does Dimraeth have?
Mudtek advertises 8 races paired with 6 classes for 48 Archetypes. Only Human, Minotaur and Elf can be traced to a build or an announcement; the other names come from a developer forum reply that listed nine candidates and ended with "After 1.0 we will have to see!".
Are Dimraeth races gender-locked?
They were in the demo — one body per race. The 2 September 2026 Early Access update lists "male/female options for every race", so the lock is going away at launch.
Which race should I pick in Dimraeth?
Race sets your racial spells and, more importantly, the scaling cost of your attributes. A developer devlog uses "fairy magician" as the example: that pairing struggles to afford physique-gated spells. Pick the race whose attribute curve matches the spells you want, not the one with the best-sounding lore.
Can I play as a minotaur in Dimraeth?
Yes, from the demo onward. A Mudtek developer wrote that they were "amazed at how many players have found us specifically because of that race option".
